Director General Aerospace Equipment Program Management (DGAEPM) is in the organization within Department of National Defence (DND) that provides In-Service Support (ISS) to the different aircraft fleets in the Royal Canadian Airforce (RCAF) inventory. DAEPM (FT) 6 is the engineering and maintenance authority for a wide range of common aviation equipment utilized on all RCAF fleets owned and/or operated by the Canadian Forces. DAEPM (FT) 6 requires materiel management services for a designated portfolio of Aviation Life Support Equipment which is grouped under a unique Technical Authority Code (TAC). This requirement is for a Life Cycle Management Specialist to maximize the ongoing effectiveness, efficiency, and economy of an assigned materiel. The LCMS must continually monitor the performance of the assigned materiel and take action where necessary to ensure materiel performance is acceptable.
Mandatory requirements
- College-level level degree or higher in the relevant field (in case of abroad education, Canadian equivalence is required)
- Minimum of Five (5) years of experience in an Aviation Life Support Equipment/Safety Systems maintenance environment.
- Minimum of two (2) years in the last five (5) years performing life cycle management services.
- Must have at least two (2) years of experience in three (3) out of five (5) equipment types listed below:
Aircrew helmet systems- 190A/P/C, RDVK and MK10R)
Oxygen Masks – (HA/LP-CF, HA/LP, MBU 12/P)
Helmet/Mask Testers – (Life Support Integrated Testset (LSIT) , Aircrew System Tester (AST).
HGU-56/P Flyer’s Helmet;
Portable Helicopter Oxygen Delivery System (PHODS);
Optional requirements
- Experience in an Aviation Life Support Equipment/Safety Systems maintenance environment
- More than 2 years of experience in performing life cycle management services
- More than two (2) years of experience in three (3) of the five (5) equipment types listed below:

General Tasks
- Manage obsolescence on current equipment by performing life cycle costing and options analysis to optimize the efficiency of the equipment;
- Assist TA in the development and review of equipment requirements and specifications for Statements of Work, and Requests for Estimates;
- Assist TA with the development and implementation of test, verification and validation procedures of ALSE;
- Liaise and act as a point of contact (PoC), for the users and field managers of the equipment, and other collateral offices;
- Enter, verify and review materiel data in DRMIS (SAP), DRP, ADAM, LMPT etc.;
- Maintain airworthiness, technical and support documentation within RDIMS as applicable to the equipment portfolio;
- Assist the TA to ensure that all LCMS activities are carried out in compliance with CTAT regulations and procedures;
- Provide recommendations on equipment disposal, maintain demilitarization codes and develop associated procedures as required;
- Review equipment entitlements, scale of issues and initiate requirements for change;
- Monitor and coordinate deliveries of materiel to equipment users in the field, (i.e. bases, wings, units, squadrons, schools, etc.);
- Adhere to the technical airworthiness policies and procedures, and provide technical advice to assist the TA in conducting airworthiness activities and tasks, support technical investigations and engineering support work;
- Participate in and respond to airworthiness and quality system audits;
- Draft and staff airworthiness processes and other quality system forms in the conduct of the LCMS activities;
- Verify, review and confirm integrated logistics support arrangements to support the technical requirements of the equipment being managed;
- Provide recommendations to reduce or mitigate hazardous materiel or environmental impacts of the equipment management program;
- Attend progress meetings at test establishments, DND units, commercial facilities;
- Assist the TA in development of corrective action plans resulting from airworthiness audits and/or flight safety inquiries;
- Provide LCMS advice, recommendations and other support to:
The TA;
Procurement and Supply Managers; Requirements Officers;
Major Crown Project Offices;
Interrelated Weapon System or Equipment Project Managers;
Collateral LCMSs and Departments;
Test and Evaluation Centres;
LCQMs;
Equipment end users and managers; - Administrative tasks to support the Life Cycle Materiel Management of assigned portfolio.
